Frequently Asked Questions
I am outside of your geographic boundaries but children from Hartford (or some other town in which we fund) attend our program. Am I eligible to apply?
No, because The Fund has limited resources, the geographic boundaries are strictly enforced. The program must take place within our geographic boundaries in order for you to apply.
How many copies of the application do you need?
Staff will take responsibility for any copies or preparation the Board needs. You only need to submit one copy of the application.
How firm is the deadline?
We adhere firmly to the deadlines. Because they happen four times a year, you can always delay three months if it is impractical to get the application to The Fund office by the deadline date.
Is it adequate to have the application postmarked by the deadline?
No, the application must be received in The Fund office by the deadline. However, remember—we will take applications by e-mail to make meeting deadlines easier!
I am not sure our program meets your requirements. What do I do?
The Fund staff is very happy to field phone calls and e-mails to answer any questions that arise as you consider whether to apply.
Do you need both an audit and a 990?
No. Recent legislation has raised the threshold to $500,000 on the requirement to get an audit. If your organization falls below this threshold, we will need a 990. However, if you have an audit, please submit that and forgo submission of the 990.
How soon will I hear about whether my application was funded?
The Board, which makes all decisions on grant application outcomes, meets within 90 days of the submission of the application. You will hear an answer within that time frame.
